The 50th Anniversary of the closure of RAF Bridgnorth was commemorated on 1st June 2013.

Thanks to many people taking the time to ensure every aspect was planned, the day proved to be a huge success. Even the sun attended throughout the day.
I'm sure many former recruits would like to thank the organisers for a marvellous day.

Approx. 350 people attended the Church service, followed by a parade through the streets of Bridgnorth by approx. 100 veterans, a band, Councillors, plus others.
After the parade had dismissed in the Castle grounds, there was time for socialising and light refreshments.

Transport was later provided to the former RAF Station where a wreath was laid at the memorial.
In the evening, a buffet was available at the All Forces Club.

The webmaster took the following 69 photographs of the event. To get them on this web site quickly, they are shown un-edited, that is, 'as taken.'
Only the size has been reduced to fit your screen better.
It was difficult trying to take photographs whilst keeping up with the parade!!   CLICK HERE for the 50th Anniversary photographs.

NOTE.   Two professional / keen amateur photographers have very kindly promised to send me copies of all their photographs. I'm sure they will put my own to shame. When their photographs are received, they will be put on this web site and made freely available to you.

The family of one of the participating veterans have kindly provided a short video of the start of the parade.
It can be viewed on YouTube here     CLICK HERE for the YouTube video.
